Impermanence is Natural

Impermanence awareness involves consciously recognizing the temporary nature of everything we possess, experience, and cherish. This Stoic practice:

• Breaks the spell of attachment that leads to suffering when things change
• Enhances appreciation for what exists ...

Nobody is ever motivated all the time. Life has a way of presenting us with obstacles and challenges that can really throw us for a loop.

So, if motivation is temporary this means you must have other resources in place that will help achieve the success you desire. 

We should learn from the past, but to regret it and then look at it with disdain brings nothing but frustration and anger. There is no reward for dwelling on what you cannot control, the past.
